#1 Fans

In this week’s Rebel Roundup, I take the opportunity to thank the fans of Murray County Central extra-curricular activities.  MCC fans – spanning the age range from youth to retiree – are truly devoted in their attendance at activities. Whether a choir or band concert, cross country meet, football game, theater production, or volleyball match – the community supports our students with their presence.  Often, it is easy to support teams or activities that are winning – but no matter the win-loss record or outlook – you show up and support the kids. This support makes MCC a special place and one in which I am proud to be a part.

As I stood at the recent cross country meet watching our dedicated runners give it their all as they crossed the finish line, I was amazed at the large number of people on hand to congratulate them.  It speaks volumes about how MCC programs are perceived when our volleyball team is on the road and we have more fans in the bleachers than the home team – making it feel like a home match. There are numerous fans who have no family connection with the kids – and yet, the MCC faithful are a family because together they don the purple, black, and silver school colors.

In competition, home-field advantage is only as good as the fans who support that activity with their presence and charisma.  This support pushes our kids and coaches to be their best to represent our school, community, and families in the best possible light.  Murray County Central has known success this fall – with the marching band’s first-place finish, cross countries successes and winning records by volleyball, football.  We have a lot to look forward to with a start like this to our school year. Thank you for your continued support of extra-curricular programs at MCC.
