Women & Investing Informational Class According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 75% of our elderly poor are women. Despite advances, women remain less prepared to provide for their future financial security. Taking charge of your money is far easier than you can imagine and this course could be your first step. Learn about investing for your financial future and don’t wait for a crisis (divorce, illness, unemployment, or death) to spur you into action. From investment basics to evaluating your financial portfolio – we will talk about goal setting, risk and reward, and the tools to meet your goals. This is strictly a learning class and there will be no solicitations. Join Carla Goedtke & Katie Furth in the High School FACS Room on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 6:30 pm.

Under the new Graduated Driver License Law passed January 2015, students must now submit a drivers log verifying 50 hours of supervised driving time with a parent or guardian (15 of those hours must be nighttime driving). Parents attending a Point of Impact course are issued a parent certificate of completion which can be submitted to reduce the required supervised hours to 40 hours (15 of which still need to be nighttime driving). Behind the Wheel instruction DOES NOT count toward your hours. The 2020 Point of Impact course will be on Tuesday, March 10 from 8:00-9:30 pm in the MCC High School Auditorium (due to the Township Election Day, we cannot have any activity between 6:00-8:00 pm). This meeting is not mandatory and is for parents who have children enrolled in Behind the Wheel and Drivers Education Class.

Join us on December 19 from 7:00-8:00 pm in the High School Auditorium for the Children’s Theatre interest meeting. This program, focuses on the skills of theatre. This year we will emphasize stagecraft, building props, making costumes, and how to move sets during performances. This year's play will be an adventure, giving students a chance to learn staged sword fighting and even letting them build a monster. The registration fee is $45 and includes snacks at each rehearsal and a cast t-shirt. Each student will rehearse in small groups either Monday OR Tuesday and Thursday in a large group. There will be some Saturday rehearsals so students can wear old clothes and have fun building and painting. Performance dates will be March 6 and 7.

This year's score was the highest recorded score on file at Murray County Central going back 20 years. Investors Choice - Social Security and Medicare Planning Whether you are retired or still working, Social Security and Medicare will become part of your life in your mid 60’s and they go hand in hand. When full retirement age was 65 for everyone, most people would apply for both programs at the same time. Now that full retirement age is increasing, baby boomers will become eligible for Medicare at 65, before they become eligible for Social Security benefits at age 66 or 67. This course is designed to walk you through determining a retirement date and figuring out a timeline to get the most out of your Social Security and Medicare benefits. Come to this informational session on vaping and e-cigarettes to find out the harms of youth exposure, tips for parents, how the tobacco industry is targeting our youth and what is being done to combat this epidemic! Girls on the Run is an intentional, expressive program that helps girls in grades 3-5 become connected, healthy and confident through learning about self-esteem, positive thinking, and so much more, all while integrating running into their lives. Practices are twice a week, culminating in a 5K run in Sioux Falls later on this fall! Practice will run 3:30-4:45 on Mondays and Thursdays, beginning September 9th. We still have registrations open and I would LOVE your girls to participate--it's such a great chance for them to have both physical activity and a means of developing that precious assertiveness and self-confidence. We also need coaches! If you're interested in making a positive difference in the lives of young women, please contact Katie Chapman at katie@shetek.org. We have a coaches' training coming up at the end of August. Each coach must complete a training and be available for at least one practice a week. NO running or coaching experience necessary--sometimes learning along the way sets the best example for our kids as well!

Please congratulate Cameron Kresko on being selected for the Minneosota Honor Society State Level Scholarship. Cameron was 1 out of 4 students in the entire state of Minnesota to be selected for this scholarship. This scholarship has very extensive application process that is based on leadership, service, character, and academic criteria. It also specifically looks at how the individual has made an impact with school culture and in the community. One of the requirements was to attend the state leadership banquet which occurred last night in Owatonna. The scholarship is $500 and will be awarded after completion of his first semester. Cameron plans to attend Creighton University. Congratulations Cameron!
