Community Education

There’s a chill in the air, the leaves are falling, and FOOTBALL IS IN FULL SWING! It has been an exciting season for the 5th and 6th Grade Tackle Football Program this Fall. A tough 35 players are suiting up in full pads and helmets for practice twice a week to work on their offense and defense and prepare for their next opponent. Over the past few weeks, MCC has hosted Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Canby and has traveled to play Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Wabasso and Dawson-Boyd. The teams will then travel to Minneota on October 7th and host Pipestone on October 14th.

Football fundamentals are also being taught at the 3rd and 4th Grade level in the Flag Football Program at MCC. An energetic group of 30 athletes don their flags and huddle up on Monday nights eager to be coached by some fabulous volunteer high school football players. Starting out with practice drills and on to the excitement of fully refereed 60 minute games. Come on out and support our young MCC Rebels under the big lights for their last game on Monday, October 9 from 7:00-8:00 pm on at the MCC Football Field.

Fall Volleyball, for 3rd-6th graders, is being held on Sundays for 27 athletes to learn fundamentals as well as playing competitive games. This program is only possible because of the wonderful help from the high school volleyball players and coaches.

I really can’t say enough about the incredible volunteer coaches we have for the 5th and 6th Grade Tackle Program, Flag Football and Fall Volleyball. They dedicate hours of their time and share their passion of the sport with so many kids – the programs would not be possible without them! We are blessed to be part of a community that is so supportive of our youth!
