What’s Happening in Community Ed . . .

YOUTH BASKETBALL

The winter season is off to an exciting start with 59 young players out for basketball at MCC in Grades 4-6. The youth basketball players began practice the first weekend in November with Coach Luke Freeman, Coach Tim Cariveau and the high school players at the skill sessions where they focused on skill development and fundamentals. The youth teams will continue to work hard the next several weeks to prepare for their tournaments starting the first part of January.

We invite you to come out and support our young Rebels as they showcase their talents at our MCC tournaments. The 5th and 6th Grade Girls tournament will be held on Saturday, January 11 and the 5th and 6th Grade Boys tournament will take place on Saturday, January 18 at the MCC gymnasiums. Our 4th Grade basketball tournament on Saturday, January 28 may be rescheduled due other conflicting youth tournaments. Check out the full 4-6 grade schedule at www.mcc.mntm.org under the Community Education tab.

The K-3 Basketball Clinic will be on Saturday, January 4 and Sunday, January 5. Coach Wieneke, assisted by the high school basketball players, will be focusing on the basics of dribbling, passing and shooting. Please contact the Community Ed. Office to register.

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest will be held on Sunday, January 12 with a snow date of January 19. Competition for girls starts at 1:00 pm and the boys will start at 2:00 pm. Winners will advance to districts in Tyler, MN.

Special thanks to all of our wonderful volunteer coaches! Without you, our youth basketball program would not be possible!

YOUTH WRESTLING

The mats are rolled out and wrestling is underway with 62 students taking part in the youth wrestling program. Youth wrestling is offered to students in Pre-K through 6th Grade.  Practices have kicked off and they will rotate between the Slayton and Fulda wrestling rooms.
