congratulations

It’s hard to believe that the end of the school year is already upon us. Graduation is right around the corner, and our MCC seniors will be heading out into the world towards whatever comes next. We are so proud of the work they have done so far and can’t wait to see what their futures hold. From my perspective, it’s been a true joy getting to know this particular group of students, first as their English teacher, and now as Career & Academic Advisor. How lucky am I to have been able to see their growth from 7th grade to today? What a gift!

As each year comes to a close, I always enjoy taking time to reflect, to look back at what went well, and what I hope to change for the coming year. Some celebrations include our recent College & Career Decision Day - our seniors came together, enjoyed breakfast from the Slayton Bakery, and celebrated the decisions made about their future plans. We have many students heading off to four-year colleges or universities, several more attending technical schools both in Minnesota and out of state, along with students entering the workforce and military. We are so proud of each and every one of you!

Another celebration is the completion of our MCA testing season, the annual review of student progress according to state standards in Reading, Math and Science. It’s always an undertaking to prepare for and administer these tests, and I’m so thankful for the diligence of our students and staff to help them go smoothly.

Lastly, I want to take a moment to thank the teachers of our district for navigating a challenging school year, taking on additional responsibilities, and going above and beyond for our students. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, although it is sometimes underappreciated! During Teacher Appreciation Week, I hope you’ve felt the love & support of your students and community, and know that you truly do make a difference, every single day.

There are so many things to celebrate as the year comes to an end, and it’s also important to reflect on the challenges we’ve overcome, the things we’ve learned, and the growth we’ve made. Thank you staff, students, and community members for the role you’ve played in the success of our school district.

Happy end of the school year, now on to the next!
