Murray County Central Public Schools will have three seats up for election in November 2026. The candidate filing period to run for school board is July 14–28, 2026. Filing is straightforward and can be completed at the District Office, located at 2420 28th St in Slayton.

An affidavit of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk (Superintendent's Office) and the $2 filing fee paid prior to 5:00 o'clock PM on July 28, 2026. A Notary Public is available at the District Office to assist with that portion of the process. Candidates must also show a driver's license or state ID to show proof of residency within the school district boundaries.

The MCC School Board is a six-member team of area residents elected at-large to serve four-year terms. Elections for three seats are held every two years. The Murray County Central School District School Board usually holds its regular business meetings on the second Monday evening of every month. Meetings generally begin at 6:00 p.m. and are held in the Murray County Central High School library, located at 2420 28th Street in Slayton.
