Elementary Fundraiser/Winter Safety

I would like to sincerely thank our students, teachers, parents, community members, relatives and friends for making our Cherrydale fundraiser a huge success. The proceeds from the sales were around $15,000 and we couldn’t have done this without you. These funds will allow us to enhance our playground at West and Central, as well as fund various field trips, school assemblies and programs. Reminder: Fundraiser pick-up date is Wednesday, December 5th 3:00-5:30 at West Elementary Gym.

In conjunction with our PBIS Program (Rebel Pride), we are planning a school carnival and inflatable day for our K-6 students this spring. Students who sold over 12 items will receive 30 minutes of extra recess with Mr. Burlingame. Students selling over 25 items will receive an extra 30 minutes on the inflatables along with an ice cream treat. Thanks again to everyone for making this a successful fundraiser for our students and school.

As winter has once again reminded us that we are Minnesotans, I would like to assure parents that student safety is our first priority. Our district has a weather related school closing policy in place and all parents and guardians will be notified with our parent notification system as soon as a determination has been made to close or delay school. Please make sure that we have your correct contact information.

As many of our students travel on the bus, it is very important that they are properly dressed for the bus ride. When weather permits, we will continue outdoor recess activities, so please make sure to outfit your child with warm coats, hats, mittens, snow pants, and boots so that we may all enjoy our beautiful Minnesota winters.

With Thanksgiving behind us and with the cooperation of Mother Nature, we only have a month of school until we break for Christmas. While students are diligently working on achieving their academic goals, they are also preparing for the various holiday programs. We encourage parental participation in all of your child’s activities, so please be sure to connect with your child’s teacher or me with any questions or concerns. The latest updates and information on school activities can also be found on our webpage at www.mcc.mntm.org or our new school app.  Enjoy our Minnesota winter.

Sincerely,

Todd Burlingame
