Snow Week 2019

Most of us dread the forecast when it calls for a week of snow.  But at MCC we are celebrating winter with Snow Week 2019 on January 28 through Feb. 1st.  January can be a long and cold month, so we are ending it with some fun and special activities.

We have dress up days as follows:  Monday—Snow Gear Day, Tuesday—Sports/Jersey Day, Wednesday—Group Character Day, Thursday—Comfy Day, Friday—Ugly Sweater Day.  Students who dress up each day receive a treat at lunch time and we have daily winners for the best dressed.

The week’s activities kick off with the Royalty Contest on Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  Snow week candidates will participate in contests, with the winners determining who is crowned Prince and Princess for 8th grade and King and Queen for 11th grade.

On Tuesday we will have Open Gym during Achievement Period for grades 7-9, and on Thursday for grades 10-12.  Students can pay one dollar to participate.  All proceeds will go to Coaches vs. Cancer.

Wednesday at 1:00 we will have our badminton finals in the gym.  Friday we have four-court volleyball during first block in the gym, with students in grade 7-12 welcome to participate.

On Friday night, Feb. 1st, we will have a home boys’ basketball game.  We invite everyone to wear red, white, and blue to show their America spirit and pride.  The first grade will be there to sing the National Anthem. Our Snow Week Court will be introduced right after the B-squad game.  Following the game, we will have a dance in the cafeteria for grades 7-12 with DJ Cody Anderson.  Admission is $3 and anyone wearing red, white, and blue to the dance gets a free pop.  The dance will conclude at midnight.

Congratulations to our Snow Week Court:  grade 8—Casey Miller, Symone Harms, Jaelen Barstad, Ella Gillette, Eli Meyer, Mary McNab, Derek Kluis, Carter Benda, Jaden Deacon, Christian Tentinger, Tanner Graphenteen, Abe Paulzine and 11th grade—Miranda Van Ruler, Brianna Schmitz, Brooke Engbarth, Izzy Gillette, Shelby Christensen, Alyssa Groves, Kyler Deacon, Aaron Johnson, Justin Clarke, Drew Coulter, Trevor Ackerman, and Tyler Winter.

Special thanks to the MCC Student Council for organizing all the activities for Snow Week 2019 on January 28 through February 1st.
