1st Q wrap-up

As we now have entered November and are winding down the first quarter of the year (November 11th ), we are looking forward to upcoming events like our annual Veterans Day program, the annual MCC American Education Celebration, and the annual Musical put on by our drama department. We also are looking forward to the winter sports season and the upcoming holidays. Before all of this though, we have to cheer on our girls’ cross country team and also Evan Baumgardner from the boy’s team as they have qualified and will compete at the state cross country meet on Saturday, November 5th. Congratulations go out to Coach Dominick Damm on being selected the Section 3A Cross Country Coach of the Year. We also want to congratulate our football team, volleyball team, and cheer squads on great seasons this fall. Football and Volleyball were both eliminated in playoff action this past week.

It has been a fun and exciting first quarter of the year and we look forward to what is ahead of us here at MCC for the remainder of the year.

In the very near future, we will be hosting our 7-12 Parent/Teacher conferences on November 7th  from 3:30-7:00 p.m. This is a great way to connect with your child’s teachers. We will be honoring our Veterans during a program on November 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. All veterans and their families are invited to attend and will be served cookies, coffee, and juice after the program. This year’s fall school musical performance will be the production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”. These performances will be held on November 11th and 12th at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon November 13th at 2:00 p.m. All performances will be held in the MCC Auditorium. The annual MCC American Education Celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 15th in the new gymnasium. This night will honor selected students, staff, retired staff, community members, and the induction of this year’s Wall of Fame selection, Mrs. Sally Berg. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this great event.

Election day is Tuesday, November 8th. Please exercise your right to vote and get to the polls. MCC’s local school board has three open positions with seven candidates vying for these three spots. Tony Clarke, Heather Hoekman, Brent Miller, Jennifer Nelson, Mike Reemtsma, Maddy Robinson, and Jeffrey Williams are the candidates for this year’s election.

Please take a moment and express your gratitude for our educators and staff. While teaching and all the other work needed to keep a school District up and running is not easy in the best of times, these past 30 months have been especially taxing on our educators and staff. They appreciate and need your encouragement to keep serving our students to the best of their abilities. We have a great staff here at MCC and the difference they make in the lives of the children they serve is unmeasurable.

If you haven’t already done so, take a moment to follow us on social media and download our MCC Schools app. This is an easy way to stay up to date on all that is happening around MCC. We also invite you into our schools for all of the events that we have going on.

On to Quarter 2!

Go Rebels!
