Thank You

As our fall youth programs are winding down for the season, I wish to take this opportunity to extend a sincere THANK YOU to all of our volunteer coaches for youth athletics.

I am grateful to all the parents that have given their Tuesday and Thursday evenings to attend 5th and 6th Grade Tackle practices and share their experience and knowledge. MCC Tackle Football had 29 participants that played the past six Saturdays against Canby, Minneota, Pipestone, Lakeview, TMB and RTR. Thank you to the volunteers who gave their time to teach our young Rebels fundamentals, drills, plays, proper tackling techniques, and above all teamwork.

I am also grateful for varsity football players and coaches who have given their Monday evenings and Saturdays mornings to coach and referee flag and tackle football.  These guys volunteer their time to teach the youngest of our Rebels the fundamentals of football, patience, teamwork and how fun the game can be! With six teams in flag football, totaling 47 players, they will all be fighting for a spot in the championship on Monday.

I would like to thank the high school cheerleaders for conducting the Fall cheer clinic that was held for our K-6th graders. There were 39 little rebels cheering during the halftime of the varsity football game against Sleepy Eye on October 4.

My last thank you is to the varsity volleyball players and coaches for spending their Sundays with our 3rd-6th graders. The volleyball participants have been learning the basics of volleyball along with fun drills to incorporate into the game.

Without all our great volunteers, these programs for our youth would not be possible!  If your child has been involved in these programs, please take a moment this week and thank the coaches!

Upcoming events for youth include: traveling basketball, archery, 4-H Adventure, Slayton Public Library Events, JO volleyball and driver’s education.  Events for adults: Adult Co-Ed volleyball, Wednesday night basketball league, walking track hours, 4-Hour Defensive Driving and VIP Floral Christmas decorating.

If you would like to attend a class or host and event, please contact Elissa Reinsma in the Community Education Office at 507-836-8360 or email elissa_reinsma@mcc.mntm.org. Our Winter brochure will be posted on our website at www.mcc.mntm.org under Community Education in November. Please listen to KJOE for upcoming events!
